Moon Sweepers Co-op: Player Limits and Shared Upgrades
Learn Moon Sweepers co-op limits, shared Upgrade Matrix purchases, public-session warnings, belt permissions and the host's kick, ban and unban controls.
Quick answer
Moon Sweepers supports online co-op lobbies of up to 16 players. The crew uses the host's Upgrade Matrix, and any player's Matrix purchase upgrades everyone. Hosts can open ESC → Your Crew to kick, ban or unban a player. A ban prevents that player from rejoining that save unless the host unbans them.
Plan for a crew of up to 16 players
Moon Sweepers supports online co-op lobbies of up to 16 players. Crewmates can spread out to work separately or clean the same area together. Working side by side is therefore an option, not the only documented way to cooperate. Official multiplayer description.
For planning purchases, the important shared system is the Upgrade Matrix. The developer describes the whole crew using the host's Matrix, with purchases benefiting everyone. Coordinate around that specific rule rather than assuming every aspect of equipment ownership works the same way. Shared upgrade rules.
Understand what a Matrix purchase changes
Since patch 1.0.3, any player's purchase in the host's Upgrade Matrix upgrades the entire crew. The purchase is not documented as an individual-only benefit. The same notes say older saves retain the highest level anyone had previously bought. Patch 1.0.3 upgrade changes.
A useful coordination step is to discuss the next Matrix purchase before someone buys it. That suggestion follows from its crew-wide effect; it is not a required purchase order or a claim that one upgrade is always best. Crew-wide Matrix benefits.
Do guests use a separate Upgrade Matrix?
Not under the documented shared rule. The crew uses the host's Matrix, and a Matrix purchase by any player improves everyone. Use the host's Matrix as the reference when discussing shared upgrade progress. Matrix sharing.
Read the confirmation before making a session public
Patch 1.0.5 adds a confirmation when starting a public game or switching a crew to public. It explains what other players can do to your Moon and points hosts to ESC → YOUR CREW for moderation. Read that confirmation before accepting the change. Public-session confirmation.
One specifically documented construction permission is that any crewmate can place splitters and mergers on another player's belts. Patch 1.0.4 permits that interaction; 1.0.3 separately reports fixing crewmate-built splitters and mergers. Discuss junction changes with the crew rather than assuming only the belt's builder can place them. Crew belt permissions.
Remove a disruptive player
The moderation controls belong to the host. To use the documented route:
- Open the ESC menu.
- Open Your Crew.
- Locate the player you intend to remove.
- Choose kick or ban.
- To reverse a ban, return to Your Crew and unban the player there.
Banning prevents that player from joining the same save again unless the host unbans them. This is the documented continuing restriction attached to a ban. Host moderation controls.
Which action explicitly prevents rejoining?
Ban is the action with a stated rejoin restriction. Kick is also available, but the notes assign the ongoing block to banning. Choose ban when your intention is to prevent that player from returning to the save, with unban available in the same menu. Kick, ban and unban behavior.
Can a host undo a ban?
Yes. The developer places unban controls in the same Your Crew menu used for kicking and banning. Return to ESC → Your Crew when you want to reverse that restriction. Unban controls.
Recognize the cleaned-ground synchronization fix
Patch 1.0.4 reports that everyone sees the same cleaned ground, including manual cleaning and robot trails. The developer specifically connects this change with fixing dust reappearing. If players previously disagreed about whether terrain was clean, that is the relevant documented correction. Ground synchronization fix.
